Handcrafted sterling silver box with Big Dipper and North Star detail on top.
The top of the box was drilled to create holes where the stars for the Big Dipper and North Star would be in the night sky. The distances between each is proportional to the real sky.
The holes for the Big Dipper have been accented by balling up 18K gold wire. The North Star contains a 2mm blue diamond tube set in 18K gold and then flush set into the box.
The diamond measures 1.3 mm round – it is a natural, ethically sourced, genuine diamond that has been heat treated for color.
I created a horizontal scratch pattern to give a sky-like appearance to the box.
The top mates with the bottom to create a nice pressure fit.
