Stunning Peruvian blue opal turtle necklace.
I purchased a really nice dendritic Peruvian blue opal which tends towards the blue green to green in color, and all I could think of was a beautiful turtle shell – so I made a turtle necklace.
The turtle is forged from sterling silver with the opal cabochon featured as the shell of the turtle in a bezel setting. The necklace has been oxidized with some of the oxidation removed to give the turtle an artisan finish and complement the opal cabochon.
The Peruvian blue opal cabochon is more blue green to green with wonderful dendritic formations. This is a natural, untreated Peruvian blue opal cabochon – it measures 17 mm by 19 mm and the weight is 13 carats.
The pendant is centered on 18 inches of oxidized sterling silver rolo chain with a hand made sterling silver S clasp closure.
