A pendant necklace handmade by me with a very nice fire opal cabochon.
The gemstone in natural and untreated. This is a hand-cut and polished stone with great color.
The cabochon measures 17 mm in length and 9.5 mm in width at the widest part of the oval. It weighs 3.93 carats.
The base of the necklace is made from sterling silver and has a flame motif with the ends of the flame accented with 24K gold applied using the Korean technique of Keum-Boo.
The entire piece has been oxidized to accent the stone and the design.
The pendant measures 1.5 inches long by 0.875 inch wide.
I have bezel set this Mexican fire opal in fine silver and the bezel around the stone has points which carry on the flame motif of the piece.
The pendant hangs on 18 inches of sterling silver chain with a hand made sterling silver S clasp closure.
This gemstone is a real beauty – and the overall design is very unique.
